We have now completed our 486th Concert Without Performers, and among these, over 40 sessions included sommelier-led wine tasting events where guests experienced the Sound Air Conditioner effect.
Rather than asking friends or acquaintances who are sommeliers, we typically request before-and-after comments from sommeliers we meet for the first time on the day of the event. However, 15 years ago, for our 100th anniversary concert held at Suntory Hall, we had Mr. Noboru Takano, then General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton Japan, as our guest speaker.
During the 20-minute intermission, wine tasting was held in the foyer, where 250 out of 400 guests participated, creating a long queue at the counter for red wine glasses.
While the wine's taste certainly changed, we hadn't arranged for a sommelier. During the second-half talk, when Mr. Takano mentioned, "For such an important, large event, I forgot to arrange for a sommelier," someone responded, "It's fine, we have a proper sommelier here. I can guarantee it. The wine definitely became more delicious."
As I was sharing this story, a voice called out from the back of the venue: "There's a sommelier right here!"
This was from sommelier Mr. Tomoya Ajisaka, who happened to be in attendance.

This was my first experience with wave-motion speaker sound, and I had a wonderful time.
First, I was amazed that despite their small size, the sound spread throughout a space of over 200 square meters.
Even when listening up close, the volume never became uncomfortable, and the sound reached clearly even from a distance.
The way it sounded felt as if the entire space was enveloped in music, with sound cascading from above.
It was very close to the immersive experience of being in a concert hall or movie theater.
I was surprised how a single speaker could transform the entire space.
Additionally, I wasn't feeling well that day and had a heavy feeling in my head, but as I immersed myself in the wave-motion speaker's sound, I strangely felt my body's cells aligning themselves, and my head became clear and light.
Finally, I was surprised that nearly 90% of participants felt changes in the wine.
I myself also noticed changes in taste and aroma.
The aroma gained a gentle sweet nuance reminiscent of milk candy, and in terms of taste, the sharp edges of acidity were softened, becoming mellower, and the tannins were subdued, making it easier to drink.
The mouthfeel became gentler and smoother, creating an impression of overall harmony.
Even though I drank a bit earlier than usual, I felt less of the foggy-headed sensation.
At this concert, I was able to enjoy the excellence of wave-motion speakers through all five senses.
Thank you for gifting me such a wonderful experience.
